Kimberly’s biggest challenge? Organizing her bulging closet! On the January 12 episode of CityLine, Kimberly shared her organizing tips for messy drawers and out-of-control closets:
- Cutting Excess: Kimberly’s first step to success – getting rid of unnecessary stuff. Before moving, Kimberly cut her closet in half.
- Organize by Colour: Kimberly’s next step was to improve the efficiency of her new closet by organizing outfits by colour. Now Kimberly can quickly create an outfit with one quick scan of her walk-in bedroom closet.
- Streamlined Storage: Kimberly absolutely loved the drawer storage dividers that California Closets provided her, especially the ones designed to keep her scarves neat and folded.
- Label Love: Kimberly completed her new closet with stylish labels in order to ensure long term organization. As Kimberly mentioned on the show, one of the biggest benefits of labeling: your husband can never complain that he doesn’t know where items go!

Is your Toronto custom closet in need of some storage therapy? Then check out some of the great California Closets organizational accessories that Kimberly recommended.
First on the list: storage hooks. Kimberly recommended installing belt and tie racks in order to enhance the organization of your closet. While we don’t support hanging your child from our broom hook, Kimberly was right – our hooks are capable of handling large weight loads if installed by one of our custom closet designers.
Drawer organization was next on Kimberly’s list of closet cleaning tips, as she explained the many benefits of our drawer dividers. Kimberly also raved about our cedar-lined drawer upgrades, calling them a “great luxury” and the perfect alternative to mothballs and lavender bags.
Lastly, Kimberly explained the benefits of California Closets’ velvet lined jewellery compartments. While intended for necklaces, bracelets and rings Eric McClelland, cofounder of Fleur-de-lis Interior Design, suggested that the inserts could also be used to hold loose change or foreign monies.
It just goes to show that the organizational opportunities are endless when you install a custom California Closet in your Toronto home! Contact a California Closets organization expert today for help with your closet clean-up!
